AACC-Med Project: Adapting agriculture to climate change in the Mediterranean
The International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies of Montpellier (CIHEAM Montpellier), in partnership with the Foundation for Agriculture and Rurality in the World (FARM), the international initiative "4 per 1000", the regional banks of Crédit Agricole (Alpes Provence, Corsica, Languedoc, Provence Côte d'Azur, South Mediterranean), Crédit Agricole du Maroc, Crédit Agricole Italia and Initiative AAA, are hosting on Thursday, November 6, 2025, the "Inter-shore Exchanges", on the Adaptation of agriculture to climate change in the Mediterranean.
This conference, open to the public, will bring together farmers, public decision-makers, elected officials, researchers, funders, local stakeholders and engaged citizens from both sides of the Mediterranean to share concrete solutions for adapting to climate change and to co-create a sustainable Mediterranean agricultural strategy.
Launched in 2024, this three-year project (2024–2026) mobilizes a broad network of Mediterranean partners to accelerate cooperation and the sharing of agricultural adaptation solutions in the region. Following a first year marked by the publication of the White Paper "The Urgency of Adaptation," the "Inter-shore Exchanges" focus on meetings, dialogue, and co-creation among Mediterranean stakeholders.
A key milestone in the "Inter-river exchanges" cycle«, The CIHEAM Montpellier meeting will link the session in Meknes (Morocco) on October 9, 2025 and the one in Luxor (Egypt) on November 20, 2025.
On the agenda:
Two major roundtables will structure the meeting:
" What tools are available to better finance and ensure the adaptation of agriculture? »", focused on
financial solutions to support stakeholders in their efforts
adaptation.
" New sectors and local areas: anticipating and planning adaptation »to explore
how territories are organizing themselves in the face of climate change.
Climate change: a collaborative map of agricultural adaptation initiatives in the Mediterranean
As a continuation of the project, the FARM Foundation has launched an interactive and participatory map listing initiatives for adapting Mediterranean agriculture. This tool highlights existing projects, promotes the sharing of experiences, and strengthens synergies between stakeholders in the region.
