Appointment: FARM welcomes a new president of the Scientific Council


Appointed by the Board of Directors, Christian Huyghe becomes president of the FARM Scientific Council from 1er January 2026
He succeeds Pierre Jacquet, economist, president of the Scientific Council from 2017 to 2025, whom we thank for his contribution and support, in particular his strong commitment to the launch, in 2024, of the 🏆Prize of the FARM Foundation for the action research.
The Scientific Council has an advisory role and its mission is to support the Foundation and its teams in the development of its studies and program of activities. Composed of 13 people – 8 women and 5 men – Its members are chosen based on their scientific expertise, experience, and reputation within the international scientific community. Members are appointed by the Board of Directors for a three-year term, renewable.
Christian Huyghe East Doctor-engineer from Agro Rennes in genetics and plant breeding.
He spent his entire career at the’'INRAE, as a researcher, director of the Lusignan Research Unit, president of the Poitou-Charentes Research Centre, then at the scientific directorate of agriculture of the institute since 2011.
He contributed to the scientific direction of research, the strengthening of partnerships to foster innovation with economic stakeholders and technical institutes, and the provision of expertise and support for public policies, particularly in the areas of plant breeding and crop protection. He worked to establish large public research consortia at the European and global levels.
All of its actions are based on the agroecological transition. in favor of the establishment of agricultural and food systems where the mobilization of ecosystem services makes it possible to design productive, economically viable systems that ensure the protection of the environment and human health.
