Many farmers still lack access to financing, banking, and agricultural services. According to IFAD, nearly 70% of financing needs remain unmet in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and Latin America. In this context, private and public investment, as well as the definition and implementation of coherent public policies for agricultural transformation, are essential. Four public and private sector leaders discussed ways to mobilize financing to transform agriculture. Watch the video of these discussions during FARM Conference on January 17, 2023

During this round table called "mobilize", the opportunity was given to highlight the FARM Observatory public support for agriculture and food. The latter clearly shows the very large gaps in public support for agriculture and food. Overall, The higher the income a country has, the more it spends to support its farmers.

Europe and North America, which are the two largest exporting regions of raw and processed agricultural products, are also those that spend the most on their agriculture and food.

For aTo support the financing of transitions, many questions arise. How can banks, whether commercial or development, act? How can manufacturers also engage in the transition? Who are the new financing players working to develop agriculture and food?

In this video, find the interventions of:

  • Mariem DKHIL (Director of the Cooperation and Sustainable Development Division, Crédit Agricole du Maroc)
  • Matthieu LE GRIX (Agriculture and Biodiversity Manager at AFD)
  • Carmine PAOLO DE SALVO (Inter-American Development Bank)
  • Karima ESSABBAK (Head of social commitment to sustainability)
  • With the testimony of Josephine GEORGE FRANCIS (President of the Farmer Union Network (Liberia) and Vice-President of ROPPA).

This sequence is moderated by Matthieu BRUN (Scientific Director of the FARM Foundation).
