FARM meets... Episode 1: Mamadou Cissokho, a voice for family farming in Senegal
In partnership with Afdi, the FARM Foundation met Mamadou Cissokho,
family agropastoral farmer for 47 years in Bemba in the Tambacounda region of Senegal.
Through the National Council for Rural Consultation and Cooperation (CNCR), created 30 years ago, it participates in the development of sustainable peasant agriculture.
"I am voluntarily involved with many other people in the establishment and animation of an autonomous peasant movement," he explains.
The CNCR today brings together various federations of breeders, fishermen, market gardeners, farmers, as well as economic groups of women and young people.
"This structure was created to first develop a reflection on the dignity of peasants and also a shared understanding of the challenges and issues," emphasizes Mr. Cissokho.
Agricultural advice plays a central role, promoting both modern technical knowledge and traditional knowledge.
