AACC-Med Project: Adapting agriculture to climate change in the Mediterranean
Launched in 2024, this project called AACC-Med, lasting 3 years (2024 – 2026), is coordinated by the FARM Foundation, in partnership with the CIHEAM Montpellier, the international initiative "4 per 1000", THE Agricultural Credit of Morocco, THE Regional banks of Crédit Agricole Alpes Provence, Provence Côte d'Azur, South Mediterranean, Languedoc And Corsica,Credit Agricole Italia And the AAA Initiative.
Other structures, particularly from the southern and eastern shores of the Mediterranean, will join the project in the coming months.
The AACC-Med project aims to enable sector stakeholders to better understand the risks associated with climate change in the Mediterranean and to identify ways to anticipate and adapt to them, at different scales and timescales.
To do this, it relies on the creation ofspaces for dialogue between farmers, breeders, Mediterranean producers, promoting sharing of practices and common reflections on the future of Mediterranean agriculture.
The project will be carried out in 3 key phases:
- Phase 1 (2024) : consolidation of existing research and expertise on the impact of climate change, for a prospective vision climate issues.
- Phase 2 (2025) : organization of exchanges inter-banks between Mediterranean actors to share adaptation strategies and practices. Educational tools will be developed.
- Phase 3 (2026) : identification of political and financial levers to achieve the transitions identified previously, leading to recommendations discussed during a Mediterranean Forum.
