FARM meets (episode 6): the place of African universities in global research
In this last episode, the FARM Foundation, in partnership with the media Le Rural, concludes its series dedicated to Guillaume Amadji, a lecturer and researcher in soil sciences at the University of Abomey-Calavi in Benin. He shares his vision of ambitious African research, connected to the field and resolutely open to the world.
Guillaume Amadji returns to the importance of international collaborations : "Science takes on its full meaning when it is rooted in African realities and nourishes a continuous exchange with international partners.. »
Exchanges with French institutions such as the Centre for International Cooperation in Agricultural Research for Development (CIRAD) and the French Institute for Research for Development (IRD) enhance the visibility of work carried out within African universities. They allow for better dissemination of local research results.
The visit of the FARM Foundation is part of this dynamic, by creating a direct relationship with researchers and laying the foundations for future cooperation.
What these three episodes teach us
Mr. Amadji's career highlights three major areas for addressing agricultural challenges in Benin:
·Rethinking fertilization management to reduce dependence on imported synthetic fertilizers
·Supporting emerging sectors like the Allada pineapple through the dissemination of fertilization practices adapted to local realities
·Promoting collaborative African research and open internationally
