MedClimat 2024: "Feeding and adapting to climate change in the Mediterranean"
The FARM Foundation, CIHEAM and iReMMO Alumni organized a conference on the adaptation of Mediterranean agriculture to climate change,
December 17, 2024 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Climate Academy (Paris).
A major event on the future of Mediterranean agriculture
MedClimat 2024 brought together farmers, businesses, policymakers, researchers, funders, and civil society actors from across the Mediterranean basin to discuss ways to preserve agricultural heritage while adapting to the changing realities of climate change. The Mediterranean is a climate change hotspot, with rising temperatures, erratic rainfall, and biodiversity loss threatening the sustainability of food systems, reinforcing the need for a cross-border cooperation and of innovative solutions.

The conference took place in five stages:
An opening by representatives of the FARM Foundation and CIHEAM, then by Karim Amellal, ambassador and interministerial delegate to the Mediterranean
A keynote by Serge Zaka, agroclimatologist and President of AgroClimat 2050, who brought his unique expertise on climate transformations in the Mediterranean
Round table “Producing sustainably: what future for Mediterranean food systems?” which brought together farmers and experts to explore concrete adaptation solutions
Round table “Between competitions and tensions, what levers for cooperation?” which made it possible to address the issues of governance and regional collaboration
A final session " A committed Mediterranean » which highlighted the concrete initiatives taken in the region
More than 100 people were present in the room
to attend this event on the future of Mediterranean agriculture.
