\nDairy systems in North African countries have been severely impacted by inflation and recurring droughts since the early 2020s. They will continue to be susceptible to these types of shocks in the future, as their consumption of dairy products is expected to increase faster than their production.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As the International Dairy Federation meets for a summit in Paris (October 14-18), the FARM Foundation is calling for a renewal of dairy cooperation between European and North African stakeholders.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nThe international dairy economy has recently experienced numerous shocks<\/strong>, taking into account the consequences of the Covid 19 pandemic, the effects of climate change and the evolution of global consumption. North African countries are particularly affected and will remain fragile<\/strong>Their consumption of dairy products should, moreover, increase faster than their production, which will result in an increase in their imports.<\/p>\n

Based on this observation, the FARM Foundation considered that an analysis of the links between the dairy sectors of the EU and Morocco, Algeria and Egypt was particularly relevant, while European agricultural orientations are evolving. in light of the Green Deal commitments<\/strong>, debates on strategic food sovereignty and the New Partnership.<\/p>\n

The challenges of milk production in North Africa and the new European agricultural objectives therefore justify the EU, its economic actors and its development organizations are questioning themselves<\/strong> on the renewal of dairy cooperation with this region of the world.<\/p>\n
